Our new Hub at 2 Douglas Bridge, Galashiels gives us the opportunity to expand the services that we offer.
It was only possible to secure ownership of this building with support from various organisations, and we have exciting plans to redevelop the remaining space into visitor accommodation. Please keep checking our social media pages for more updates!
As we now have more space, we have comfy sofas next to our book swap and Rejiggled corner. Rejiggled is the nickname used by one of our members who handcrafts unique and quirky decorative items using upcycled materials. Proceeds from sales of these items are kindly donated to the Hub.
We also have a meeting space to the rear of the reception area which is available for community meetings.
Please enquire in the Hub if you would like to use this space.
Hike & Bike Hub is committed to promoting everyday acceptance and inclusion of neurodiversity and autism.
Different Minds. One Scotland was the Scottish Government’s campaign which aimed to dispel the myths surrounding autism. The information displayed in the Hub is taken from their resources. The information on this page is reproduced from the campaign’s toolkit.
Autism is part of everyday life. Yet even though 1 in 100 people in Scotland are autistic, it’s often misunderstood.
Autism is a neurological difference; put simply, autistic brains work differently to non-autistic brains. Autistic people see and experience the world differently to non-autistic people.
That’s when comunication really matters. It’s important that we all understand more about autism – both what it is, and what it is not. The following link takes you to a video about autism and the social rule book:
